28Apr07 IWSF Works To Increase Public Awareness

Des Burke-Kennedy and Kuno Ritschard at the Dallas NASC World Cup Information Booth

The National Association of Sports Commissions in the USA held their 2007 Sports Event Symposium in Dallas, Texas on April 17-20. They represent over 425 organisations from 300 cities in North America and Puerto Rico. Over 95 Sports, Convention and Hospitality bodies took part. These included Athletics, Baseball, Basketball, Golf, Swimming, Karate, Beach Volleyball and Hockey. With the support of USAWaterski, for the first time, the IWSF set up an information booth to highlight the attractions of the Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup series. The NASC also gave the IWSF an opportunity to make a presentation to all delegates on the main Symposium stage. World President, Kuno Ritschard and Des Burke-Kennedy, Marketing & Media Chairman, also completed meetings with 57 representatives in an effort to increase awareness of our sport and to try to identify suitable new World Cup sites and sponsors. This search for sites and sponsorship will continue and especially in the USA where the new contract with www.WCSN.com will greatly increase the viewing audience in the years ahead.

03Jan07 In Memoriam Charles Ramsey

It is with deep regret that I must advise that our dear friend, Charles Ramsey, passed away peacefully on New Years Eve - 31 December 2006.

Charles Ramsey was Barefoot Water Skiing. Make no mistake, our sport would not be where it is today if it hadn't been for this great man; a true pioneer of our Sport. He was a mentor to so many of us, and an inspiration for all to follow.

We all join together in sending our deepest sympathies to Charles Ramsey's family who are in our thoughts right now at this sad time.
