08Nov06 International Wakeboard Tournament held in Taipei


The revitalised Chinese Taipei Water Ski Association, under the presidency of Mr.Thomas Lin, held their first international event for many years over the weekend of 4-5 November 2006.
The competition was held at the recently created water sports centre Breeze Canal located on the outskirts of Taipei.
Some 60 wakeboard riders participated in the event targeted at the novices and intermediate levels. Including the host teams from various parts of Taiwan, other teams and/or riders from Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore joined the event.
It was a tremendous success with the organizers now considering bigger and even better events as they gear up for the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung.

25Oct06 World Senior Trophy under way in South Africa

The 2006 EAME Seniors and IWSF World Senior Trophy started on Tuesday 24 October at Thorlea Dam (South Africa) with over 100 of the World's best senior skiers representing 23 countries. After a dazzling opening ceremony which included local Zulu dancing, the skiers were hard at work with the Preliminary round of the Senior Men 2 slalom and Senior Men 1, Senior Women 1, 2 and 3 tricks having been completed on the first day.

09Oct06 Official Statement from the Singapore Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (SWWF)

Dallas Friday’s condition has continued to improve. On Sunday, 8 October 2006, she was taken off a ventilator that was used to support her breathing during her recovery, and is now breathing on her own. She is no longer sedated, is alert and is able to communicate with her family.

Commented her father, Robin Friday, "We are pleased with the excellent care she has received here in Singapore. Special thanks go to Changi General Hospital, the Singapore Waterski and Wakeboard Federation and their incredible staff who have provided so much more than the round-the-clock care and support throughout this challenging time. My family is eternally grateful to Changi General Hospital and the Singapore Waterski & Wakeboard Federation. Dallas has become one of their own. Thank you for all your prayers and support for Dallas and please continue to pray for her recovery”.

04Oct06 Official Statement from the Singapore Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (SWWF)

Dallas Friday was admitted to the Changi General Hospital on Sunday 1 October 2006 and underwent surgery on 2 October 2006, Monday morning to treat her left thigh bone fracture. According to the hospital, she is currently in the intensive care unit being treated for acute respiratory distress syndrome. Her condition is critical but stable.

We are doing our best to ensure that Dallas and her family are being provided all necessary medical care and support. We are also working closely with the hospital, monitoring her progress. Further updates will be provided as and when information is available.

Ms Friday's father and brother are currently with her in Singapore. Her father, Mr Robin Friday, would like to take this opportunity to thank all her fans and well-wishers for their concern.

    09Aug06 IWSF Tournament Council approves Clementine Lucine's application for a World Overall Record

    Clemintine skied 4@11.25, 8680 points and jumped 52.1m. This gives an overall score of 2925.09 which exceeds the current record. However, the scoring system has changed in regard to slalom. These same performances under the new calculation method gives 2850.11 which is what will be recorded as the new record with an explanation of the scoring system change.
    These performances were done at the Malibu Open 2006 in Lacanau, France on the 8th and 9th of July, 2006.

    It is with great pleasure that the IWSF announces the 2006 Water Ski World Senior Trophy, which will be organised in conjunction with the EAME Senior Championships from 23-29 October at the Thorlea Waterski Estate, near Durban, South Africa.

    29Jan06 EAME Congress held in Doha, Qatar

    The EAME Congress has been held successfully in Doha/Qatar. Following the outgoing President Franz Kuhn, Alain Amade was elected unanimously as the Head of the EAME Confederation.

    Sid Adriaensen has been reelected as Secretary General. Franz Kuhn will continue working in the position of the IWSF Vice-President.
