01Jan08 Preparations Complete At The World U21 Championships In Chile

Miranda Lake in Santiago, Chile site of the World U21 Championships

Following an awesome New Year's Eve Fireworks display attended by 1.5 million people over in Valparaiso, our U21 Waterski athletes were almost all in bed by 11.30pm. Very impressive. These World titles are important to all and late nights are not on the agenda.

The last Practice period finished this evening at 20.00hrs. With 30C / 90Fh sunshine and perfect water conditions all day, expectations are now high for the Preliminary Rounds which start tomorrow, Wednesday at 09.00hrs. The 275hp CorrectCraft Nautique boat was the receiver of much praise and this has added further to the level of confidence of all.

Chief Judge Dimos Alexopoulos (GRE) greeted the 23 Team Captains from around the World at the site this afternoon and clarified matters relating to seedings, Opening Ceremony routines on Thursday, etc. Tomorrow, Wednesday, at 09.00hrs, the first Preliminary Round athletes on the water will be in Men Series 3 Slalom. Nine Skiers in this Series alone will begin their battle for one of the 12 coveted Finals places. Colombia's Roberto Linares will earn the first score on the board. All the results will be posted throughout each day here on this site.
