IWWF WORLD 35+ CHAMPIONSHIPS - RULES

 

ABSTRACT

The IWWF World 35+ Championships is the official World Championships for 35+ division skiers throughout the world.

The World 35+ Championships shall be held every two years.

 

W35+  1     TECHNICAL RULES

The technical rules shall be identical to those in the most current IWWF Technical Rules with the exception of the modifications to the Technical Rules as stated below:

It is generally understood that any reference to the World Championships shall be applicable to this tournament if appropriate.

 

W35+  2     EVENTS

There shall be 3 events: Slalom, Tricks and Jump in each age/sex category.

Individual Overall scoring is from either round.

Team scoring is from the Preliminary round.

 

W35+  3     ELIGIBILITY

Skiers eligible for this competition are Men and Women in the age categories listed in a., b. and c. below.

All ages refer to the age of the skier on the 31st December of the previous year.

a) 35 to 44

b) 45 to 54

c) 55 years or more.

There shall be no combination of divisions regardless of the number of contestants. Championship medals will be awarded in each division to the top three places (or the number of contestants if that is less than three) regardless of the number of contestants in the event.

 

W35+  4     TEAMS – replaces IWWF Rule 4.01

Each Federation may enter a Team composed of a maximum of 8 skiers, with a maximum of 4 skiers in any age category and with a maximum of 3 skiers of the same sex in any age category.

These minima must have been achieved in each event in which the skier is entered.

Skiers who are qualified in two events may be entered in the third event if they have achieved the minimum of the next older age group.  55+ skiers who are qualified in two events may be entered in the third event.

Federations not having skiers who have achieved any of these minima shall, nevertheless, have the right to enter one skier Man or Woman in each age category. This means a maximum of 3 skiers, 1 in each age category.  These skiers may be entered in any or all of the events. 

In addition the Federation organising the Championships shall be entitled to a team of eight competitors whether qualified or not.   These skiers must conform to the limits mentioned in the first paragraph Of Rule W35+4.

 

 

W35+  5     INDIVIDUALS – replaces IWWF Rule 4.01

Skiers not selected for their National Team may be entered by their Federation as individuals only in the relevant event(s) if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

The following placements on the current year's May IWWF 35+, 45+, 55+ Ranking List .

§                over 35 top 10men/8 women in events, top 5 overall

§                over 45 top 10 men/8 women in events, top 5 overall

§                over 55 top 8 men/6 women in events, top 4 overall

 

W35+  6     ROUNDS – REPLACES THE CHART IN IWWF RULE 2.02

The number of skiers in the final in each event will be based on the number of skiers starting in the preliminary.

Ties will be run off so that only the number shown will go to the final. To enter the final, the skier must have achieved a score greater than zero in the preliminaries.

2.05 Tournament deadlines shall be set by the organizer with approval of the Chairman of the IWWF Tournament Council

 

 

 

W35+  10INDIVIDUAL OVERALL SCORING – REPLACES IWWF RULE 5.03

A set of fixed standards will be used instead of the winner's score for Individual and Team Overall Scoring. The standards are as follows:

S = Skier’s score

The buoy count is from the start speed of the competition as shown in each category.

W35+  11TEAM SCORING

5.05 Team scoring: The best 4 scores from each event - but with a maximum of 2 scores from any of the 6 age/sex categories to be used. The team score shall be calculated using the preliminary round only. 

The performance by a skier who is not an official member of his Federation's team shall not be taken into consideration in the calculation of the team score.

6. 02 there shall be at least one judge from each of the two groups that the tournament is not being held in.

 

W35+  13Rule 16 –

This rule does not apply.

 

NOTE:

It is the intent of these Rules to provide a standardized physical format for over 35 competition. Variance from these rules as -far as team competition or entrance requirements for- tournaments other than the World over 35 is acceptable. However, no variation of the physical format rules is to be accepted i.e. ramp heights boat speeds, scoring formulae.
