Situated on the Volga River, a new special Water Stadium will be completed by July 16th  for the event. A new hi-tech Waterski Jump Ramp will also be installed. Following this Waterski World Cup Stop, the venue will also host the Formula 2000 Power Boat World Championships.

Dubna has an outstanding history in the sport of Waterskiing. The City’s Waterski Training School has produced many champions over several decades – including Natalia Rumjantzeva who set five World Tricks Records in a four year period.

The Government of Moscow Region, the City of Dubna and local company Akrilan, are the main sponsors. Akrilan is a national market leader in the production of quality hydromassage baths and shower enclosures. It’s nearby factory is a significant employer. Board Chairman, Igor Gorelov, stated “ We have a social responsibility to Dubna where our factory is located and we want everybody here to enjoy the excitement of this Waterski World Cup Stop”.  Also expected to attend are the Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee, the head of the Russian Sports Ministry and the former Prime Minister, Sergey Stepashin.

Following the awarding of the US$100,000 Cash Prizes to the athletes, the population of Dubna will be treated to a special Fireworks display on the Volga River and an open air Rock Concert. The expected air temperature of 25 °C will certainly be raised when the Waterski World Cup comes to town !
