THE HELLENIC WATERSKI FEDERATION'S IMPORTANT UNDERTAKING FOR THE IWSF OLYMPIC PROJECT

The IWSF Secretary General Graziano Tognala's interventions in Greece continue and intensify, in the attempt to obtain the maximum support from Greece in favor of our candidacy to become Olympic sport in 2004.

In the course of the past ten days, the Secretary General and members of the Hellenic Waterski Federation (HWSF) met with Executive members of the ATHOC (Athens Organizing Committee for the 2004 Olympic Games), who renewed their commitment to their decision made in July of 1999 to propose to the IOC only one new sport for the Olympic Games...Waterski.

The support of important Greek politicians is however important in order to successfully overcome the difficulties presented by the IOC's decision to reduce the number of athletes and disciplines in the forthcoming 2004 Olympic Games. To this end the Secretary General and the HWSF met with the Minister of Sport George Floridis.

The Hellenic Waterski Federation, in order to satisfy the ATHOC's requests for complete and detailed information to present to the IOC, at this point has the urgent task of selecting one site in the Athens area, and having the complete availability and feasibility of the same for holding Waterski competitions in the 2004 Olympic Games.
