Dear Lelani, Jack and Scott

I am really sorry about the problems caused by the hurricane and the influence it had on the superb programme you have prepared for our World Junior Championships. I followed your fight against the hours closely as I was in regular contact with Bob Corson. I can imagine your disappointment after all the hours of work and preparation to organise the event properly, but I hope that the good results of the athletes helps a little bit to compensate your frustration.

On behalf of the IWSF and also personally I want to congratulate you and also the Chief Judge, Harry de Laat, how you have handled the difficult situation and that you have made it possible to finish the Championships in time and with excellent skiing conditions for all participants. You really have achieved an outstanding performance.

You may have heard already that we were also faced with terrible problems at the World University Championships in Russia. First after the sad and shocking event caused by the terrorists the City decided to cancel the City festival, the closing ceremony and the show programme around it. In addition then we had to cancel the men’s tricks final and the all jump finals due to the strong wind which made it impossible to go on the water.

We are an outdoor sport and depend strongly on the weather. Fortunately such a situation doesn’t happen very often. I can only hope that this misfortune will give you more than ever the ambition to start thinking on the organisation of a future main event.

With great thanks and best regards

Kuno Ritschard
