Here we are in the deep south, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The city that never sleeps. It can be compared as the New York City of South America. It is a mixture of Spanish and European cultures and flavoured with the erotic Tango.... When the consierge showed me my room - he also gave me free passes to some interesting entertainment facilities - gawd I love this country!!!! ha ha ha ha They have a huge freeway right thru the middle of the city and I came upon a traffic area where in England they call them a circus! And, counted no more than 10 cars lined up, side by each, waiting for the light. The freeway was 4 lanes wide which in Latin America - means 6 as the lane dividers are really only a recommendation, not a requirement. Today was mostly figuras in a stiff Argentine tailwind - I have sent some photos of this as well. I have included a picture of the smallest skier in the tournament - Jimena Rubio and dang, she is really good! She ran 21 buoys in slalom and you should see her trick ski!! It is interesting to note that she is part of the Mexican Plan to re-develop the sport in their country. I have had discussions with a number of people on this and they are asking that we hold a special International tournament for the younger skiers. It would be like starting over again and I am in favour!!! Peru is also in favour of this and, it is possible, that the Pan American Championships 2004 (Dos Mil Quatro) will hold a special event on the second lake in Peru for the younger skiers - slalom y figuras only.... Feature of the dia - Jose Visconte (ARG) is now first in Slalom and Figuras in the preliminaries - some people may remember him as the Slalom Champion of the Senior "Trophy" Worlds in France.... He edged out Edgardo Martin (63 yrs old and skis like a youngster) who said he ran his "C" run today due to the conditions - "C" as in coward - ha ha ha ha Okay, I am heading out for the nite life of BA, for some of the best beef in the world, incredible entertainment and maybe get back in time to catch the bus at 7 am in the morning. You really have to come to this wonderful country where waterskiing still rules! Botana's place is only one of many in this area - tomorrow I will visit another place where Georgi Renosto skis and later, maybe to the famous island site of Edgardo Martin. On Sabado (Saturday), the President of the Argentine Olympic Committee, who is also the Vice President of PASO (Pan Am Sports Organization), will be in attendance at the event. We have some things to discuss - (Pan Am Games 2007) and that is why I am here...
