World University Championships.

Tianjin, a beautiful and historic city in Northern China has told the IWSF World University Commission that it intends to submit a bid to host the World University Championships at the new Dongli Lake Development, just outside Tianjin.

"Tianjin, has successfully hosted many major world competitions including the World Gymnastics Championships and World Table Tennis Championships," said World University Commission chairman, Phil Chase. " They have both the infrastructure and financial strength to make this a wonderful event for water skiing."

The modern city of over 10,000,000 people has shown great enthusiasm in hosting a major water ski event and is developing a new 3-event competition facility at the beautiful Dongli Lake Resort, which will also include several large hotels, golf courses, restaurants, shops, villas and condos. "Everywhere we went the press and TV cameras were there to cover it" said Chase. " They also had big red banners in Chinese and English all over town that said " Welcome World Collegiate Water Ski Delegation".

The time and place of the 2002 World University Championships requires approval by the IWSF Congress and it is hoped that they will be able to address this issue at their September meeting in Italy
